Kings Beach State Recreation Area features 979 feet of beautiful frontage property along the North Shore of Lake Tahoe. This day-use-only area has a large sandy beach and multiple picnic tables under the shade of Jeffery pines. This wide-open and clean beach is the perfect place to bring your family to enjoy Lake Tahoe waters and the amazing views.
Dogs, alcohol, glass, and fires/charcoal are not permitted on the beach at Kings Beach SRA. There is a dog beach located at the east of the Park, beyond the boat ramp (rocky area). Dogs not allowed on sandy beaches in Placer County. Read here for what recreational activities and facilities are available and offered.
This is a family-oriented park with a playground and volleyball poles. Alcoholic beverages and smoking are not allowed at this beach. Our parks and beaches have been highly impacted at this time – Please help keep your lake and beaches clean by ensuring trash ends up inside an appropriate trash receptacle or packed out.
Public Boat Ramp – Open May 29, 2021, from 9 – 5 pm daily.
Kings Beach SRA is located in downtown Kings Beach, between Bear and Racoon streets on the north shore of Lake Tahoe. The park is approximately one mile west of the Nevada State Line and thirteen miles southeast of Truckee, CA from Highway 267.

Parking lots are Pay-to-Park. Fees are required to park in the parking lots year-round. Automatic Pay Stations are located in Kings Beach and Kings Beach Boat Launch parking lots. Busses, RV’s, and trailers not allowed to park in the main lot.
Peak-Season rates (May 1 – September 30) – $10.00 per vehicle for the day, or $3.00 per hour. Non-Peak-Season rates (October 1 – April 30) – $5 per vehicle for the day, or $3.00 per hour. Annual passes are available. Pay machines can take credit cards or exact cash. Change not given. The parking lot is open from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm.
