In partnership with the Sierra Club, join us in learning more about the wildflowers that we see in the Washoe Meadows State Park.
Spring is here, stop and smell the flowers with local naturalist Bob Sweatt! Experience and learn about the incredible flora of Washoe Meadows State Park. Search for a diversity of wildflowers, including the native Common Starlily, Leucocrinum montanum, which only occurs in Washoe Meadows! This will be a non-strenuous walk and all abilities are welcome, whether you are an avid outdoor enthusiast or simply want an excuse to get outside with friends!
This walk is considered easy with the trails in Washoe Meadows State Park being relatively flat, and we are planning to be out there for 1-2 hours. Due to this being an outdoor educational hike, 1 registration is for 1 person, and there will be an accompanied waiver is required with the registration. We recommend bringing walking shoes, water bottles, sunscreen, and snacks. Any naturalist guides and binoculars would be great! More information will be sent out the week of the event, and we require registration for this event due to limited capacity.
Bob Sweatt is a Naturalist, and he loves being out in nature exploring, whether it be looking for birds or just walking and enjoying the sounds of nature. His true love is searching for wildflowers and taking pictures of them. However, sharing his passion with others by leading wildflower walks is a close second. Now retired 19 years from his role as a photography teacher, he spends his ample time enjoying his passion and sharing it with others.
