Holidays at the Parks (CANCELED)

  • Donner Memorial State Park 12593 Donner Pass Rd. Truckee United States (map)

UPDATE: Due to expected heavy snow and the likelihood of travel advisories, as well as the heating system not working inside the Visitor Center, the upcoming Donner Holidays at the Park event is canceled.

We prioritize visitor and staff safety and typically cancel events when CHP Truckee and CalTrans discourage road travel due to unsafe weather conditions. Proceeding with the event would contradict their advisories and potentially place volunteers and visitors at risk.

Join us at Donner Memorial State Park on Saturday, December 14th from 10:00 am-2:00 pm to celebrate the holiday season!

Enjoy live music featuring Touch of Gold, Junior Ranger activities, special deals and gift wrapping in the gift shop, and snacks and hot beverages! Junior Ranger activities include creating your own Patty Reed doll that you can take home with you, painting the Chinese Double Happiness symbol, crafting paper snowflakes, and viewing animal pelts of local wildlife species. It’s always a fun time to get into the festive spirit, especially when it’s inside a cozy park museum!

This is a free event! The $10 ($9 for visitors 62 and up) parking fee will still be implemented. This community event is hosted by Donner Memorial State Park in collaboration with the Sierra State Parks Foundation.
