The Sierra State Parks Foundation is relieved and thankful to have been awarded a $10,000 grant from El Dorado County.
El Dorado County received funding through the Federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. The El Dorado County Community Foundation managed the grant process.
As many know, the Sierra State Parks Foundation took a major financial hit because of Covid-19 and the cancelation of all of our summer fundraising events due to social distancing guidelines and the ban on group gatherings. We are incredibly grateful for this grant from El Dorado County Community Foundation as it will go directly towards funding our state park interpretive programs and closing the gap in our foundation’s operational needs.
“During the pandemic we have learned how much our community values our state parks for our mental and physical health. Thank you to Placer Shares for enabling us to avoid staff hour reductions and maintain our education and outreach services for our visitors and schoolchildren” Executive Director, Heidi Doyle.
