Parks Online Resources for Teachers and Students (PORTS) is just a click away
Parks Online Resources for Teachers and Students (PORTS) program provides FREE live interactive videoconference programs, also known as virtual field trips. K-12 students from California and around the world are connecting with live State Park Interpreters and learning academic content standards within the context of California’s dynamic state park system.
The primary focus of PORTS are students that have experienced geographic and socio-economic barriers to participate in state park programs, or in current situations like those presented by COVID-19. By reaching directly into “remote” classrooms now, students are able to interact directly with park professionals and access their California State Parks in a way not always possible due to current restrictions and limited access. Through an interactive video-conference, students will engage with a PORTS interpreter and explore the shores of Lake Tahoe from high up in the Sierra Nevada mountains. Our Traditional PORTS Programs include:
- Lake Tahoe Watershed addressing the importance of water as a valuable resource.
- Life in the Snow World with a focus on snowpack, solar radiation, insulation, adaptation, and hibernation.
Teachers, use the Email Me! found here to submit a Traditional PORTS Program Request. Our PORTS ambassador will return your email and coordinate with you.
