|The Sierra State Parks Foundation is so honored and thankful to have been awarded a $10,000 grant from the Placer Shares program through the Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation. .|
Placer County received funding through the Federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. The County Board of Supervisors voted to distribute a significant percentage of the funding to local businesses and nonprofit organizations that have been hard-hit by the pandemic and associated shutdowns.
As many know, the Sierra State Parks Foundation took a major financial hit because of Covid-19 and the cancelation of all of our summer fundraising events due to social distancing guidelines and the ban on group gatherings. We are incredibly grateful for this grant from Placer Shares as it will go directly towards funding our state park interpretive programs and closing the gap in our foundation’s operational needs.
“During the pandemic we have learned how much our community values our state parks for our mental and physical health. Thank you to Placer Shares for enabling us to avoid staff hour reductions and maintain our education and outreach services for our visitors and schoolchildren” Executive Director, Heidi Doyle.
