Sierra Speaker Series – The Most Significant Square Mile

August 21 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Donner Summit is the most historically significant square mile in California and maybe the entire Western United States. That significance can be seen in Summit Canyon. The new Donner Summit Hub celebrates that significance. After we explore that a bit we’ll head down Summit Canyon on an illustrated vicarious trip using a large collection of pictures and stories. You will be inspired to repeat the trip in person and visit the hub.
Come enjoy this presentation from Bill Oudegeest. Bill Oudegeest is a former teacher and administrator. He is also Heirloom newsletter editor, web master, publications editor, author of the 20 Mile Museum signs and two books on Donner Summit history. Oudegeest has been enjoying Donner Summit or more than forty years and is one of the founders of the Donner Summit Historical Society.
Join us at the Donner Memorial State Park Visitor Center at 5pm on August 21st. Light refreshments will be available.
