The Donner Party has become a tragic icon of the American march west. From Independence, Missouri, to Sutter’s Fort, California, the party endured almost unimaginable hardship and suffering. Author Frank Mullen gives us a day by day account of their struggle for survival as they journey across the trail west.
Frank X. Mullen is a Reno-based author, investigative journalist, historian, teacher and Chautauqua scholar. He has appeared as a Donner Party expert on the History Channel, National Geographic Channel, Weather Channel, BBC and other TV networks.
“Frank Mullen approaches the topic from the perspective of a newspaperman. He reports the tragedy almost day by day with each page beginning with a newspaper type headline. Good writing makes the (Donner Party) story come alive.”
