Update 9/9 – This event has been rescheduled for October 23rd!

Update 8/31 – Due to the Caldor Fire, the CA State Parks in the Lake Tahoe – Donner area are closed until further notice. As this event is still a few weeks away, this event has not been postponed or canceled yet.

The monthly Sierra Speaker Series connects folks to the rich cultural and natural history of the area. Doors open at 5 pm, at the Donner Memorial State Park Visitor Center; the presentation to follow at 5:30 pm. Admission is a suggested $5 donation. Light refreshments will be available, and wine available for a suggested donation of $5. Parking is free after 5 pm.
The story of the Donner Party’s Forlorn Hope is a story of heroism in the face of extreme hardship and in the face of horrible choices. In 2020 four extreme athletes, captivated by the original journey in 1846, repeated the winter trek. Bob Crowley and Tim Twietmeyer will talk about the original journey and their reprise with pictures.
